Lidded Side Basket / Madake Bamboo / Oita-JPN 220611 大分県/真竹 蓋付サイドバスケット 小・中 2サイズ(簡易版) ルイ版

This handled basket is made from green Madake bamboo and Tsudura-fuji vines.
From the “Side Basket Series,” square-shaped when viewed from above,
we introduce two sizes here: small and medium, both with lids.

Medium size

Green bamboo refers to Madake bamboo freshly cut while still retaining its natural green color.
This basket is woven with strips of green bamboo whose outer skin has been shaved thin.

By shaving the outer skin, the hard enamel-like layer is removed, giving the surface a softer appearance.
It also adds a natural sheen, enhancing its beauty.
Another characteristic is the way it gradually changes over time, turning evenly into a warm amber color.

The rim and handle are secured with Tsudura-fuji vines, adding an accent to the finish.

Now, let us introduce each size.

As the name “Side Basket” suggests, it is convenient to place beside a sofa or bed—
holding books or magazines you want to read, or creams and other care items.
The lid can serve as a place to set glasses or a mobile phone.

Some people also use it for tea utensils, tea sets, or as a sewing box.
It can just as well be carried outside as a basket, holding lunches while the lid is used as a plate or tray.

Once you start thinking, many possible scenes of use come to mind.
Surely it will accompany daily life in many ways.

Please check the dimensions and choose the size you prefer.

Please note that the color of green bamboo may vary depending on when it was harvested and the condition of the material.
Some pieces may have a deeper green tone, while others may appear lighter or slightly yellowish.
We kindly ask for your understanding that returns cannot be accepted for this reason.
