Green bamboo refers to Madake bamboo freshly cut while still retaining its natural green color. This basket is woven with strips of green bamboo whose outer skin has been shaved thin. By shaving, the hard enamel-like outer surface is removed, giving the bamboo a softer look and a glossy, enhanced beauty.
Over time, it gradually changes into a warm amber color, evenly and beautifully.
The rim and handle are bound with Tsudura-fuji vines, adding an accent to the finish.
The entire basket is woven carefully and firmly. Its smoothness makes you forget that bamboo is usually a material that can splinter.Seen from above, the refined finish is clear. Even with its thick rim, the bamboo nodes are neatly aligned.The opening and the base are horizontally long with rounded corners. The base is finished in ikada-zoko, strong and designed to keep the contents from spilling.Looking at the underside, you can see reinforcing bamboo firmly inserted, making the basket sturdy as well.
