Handled Dish Basket / Madake Bamboo / Oita-JPN 220670-1 大分県/真竹(青竹) 手つき茶碗かご ルイ版

This is a dish basket with a handle, made only from green bamboo and Tsudura-fuji vines.

In Kyushu, this type of dish basket has long been made in a traditional form.
Yet when looking at one made by Mr. Kiriyama, it feels both nostalgic and at the same time fresh and modern.

Though it is a form that has existed for generations,
when you look closely at the details, you can feel that it is unmistakably the work of Mr. Kiriyama.

Green bamboo refers to Madake bamboo freshly cut while still retaining its natural green color.
This basket is woven with strips of green bamboo whose outer skin has been shaved thin.

By shaving, the hard enamel-like outer surface is removed,
giving the bamboo a softer look and a glossy, enhanced beauty.

Over time, it gradually changes into a warm amber color, evenly and beautifully.

The handle is bound with moonseed vines, adding an accent.

It can hold your everyday tableware.

You may also use it for fruit, vegetables, or sweets.

It also makes a fine harvest basket for vegetables or herbs from the garden.

Over time, the bamboo turns a deep amber,
gaining even more luster and presence as something newly reborn.

We hope you will take your time and enjoy using it.

Please note that the color of green bamboo may vary depending on when it was harvested and the condition of the material.
Some pieces may have a deeper green tone, while others may appear lighter or slightly yellowish.
We kindly ask for your understanding that returns cannot be accepted for this reason.
