Antique – Iron Vase 750418-1古物 鉄の花器 750418-1

This is a flower vase made of cast iron.

Rising straight from the base and opening wide at the mouth,
this vase forms soft curves so fluid that it is hard to believe they were shaped from heavy, solid iron.
Its form resembles a flower in bloom,
with hand-shaped qualities that reveal different expressions depending on the angle from which it is viewed.

The surface retains the rough texture of cast iron,
catching light and shadow with ease and giving the piece a weighty presence unique to metal.
Unlike pottery, it conveys a strong sense of density and heaviness inherent to iron.

There are two small holes at the rim for hanging, allowing the vase to be suspended according to the room or setting.
A single flower or a small branch pairs beautifully with it, as the hardness of the iron contrasts with the softness of the plant.
Water may be placed directly inside, but to prevent corrosion we recommend using an inner cup as a liner.

This vase seems to carry a strength that sharpens and dignifies the atmosphere of the space.

*As an antique, there are small patches of rust and wear from age, but they do not affect use. Please note that the interior is not treated to be watertight, so when arranging flowers it is best to place a cup or liner inside.
