This pendant light is woven from akebi vine.

Akebi is a deciduous climbing shrub that grows naturally in the mountains,
its stems extending as vines that twine around trees and other vegetation.

Its sweet fruit is cherished as an autumn delicacy,
enjoyed not only by people but also by birds and animals.

In Nagano, there are also baskets made from “muki-akebi,”
in which the bark is peeled off to reveal a soft grayish tone.
This piece, however, is woven using the natural brown vine,
with its bark left intact, preserving the appearance it has in the wild.

The craftsperson herself uses this pendant light in her own home.
It was a design she had once made in the past, but had not produced for some time—
now recreated specially for our exhibition.

This page introduces the pendant lampshade named “Eight.”

* In this revived lighting series, there is also a stand light type—Stand Light “Spinning” (311255-1).

This is how it looks when illuminated.

Light gently filters through the weave of the akebi vine, casting soft, warm tones across the room.
The shadows created by the weaving pattern evoke the quiet atmosphere of a faraway place.

As a single-bulb light, it is not meant to brightly illuminate the entire room,
but rather to provide a soft, ambient glow like indirect lighting.

The distinctive “figure-eight” weaving inspired the name—Pendant Light “Eight.”

We recommend using an LED filament bulb.
Its wide light range enhances the pattern of shadows projected on walls and ceilings.

The akebi vine retains its natural texture, just as it grew in the wild.
Its subtle gradation and calm hues invite a sense of peace and timelessness.

Even when unlit, its presence brings a quiet warmth—an object that soothes simply by being there.

A truly unique and precious work of craftsmanship.
We hope you will take this opportunity to make it part of your home.

We look forward to receiving your order.
