This basket is made from pine wood.

Wide strips thinly sliced from pine are woven in a regular pattern, alternating vertically and horizontally. This shows the weave on the side without a handle.


It has a strong presence, as if the wood itself were woven directly. Yet when touched, the surface feels smooth and gentle.


This shows the rim viewed from the outside, where it is boldly bent to form the edge.


This view looks down at the rim from above. When the rim is folded, a very small flat surface—about 1 cm—is first created before it is turned back. By doing so, the thin strips can be woven without splitting.


Because the wood is bent firmly to about 90°, there may be slight fuzzing in some areas, but it is not noticeable to a degree that causes concern. This is not a defect, and we appreciate your understanding. As delicate fabrics may catch, we recommend lining the basket with a single cloth if this is a concern.


Handles are attached on both sides in this way. They are made by twisting the fibers of birch wood.


The handles are finished by being wrapped around the first row of strips.
