These baskets were originally made in a village in Fuchu City, Hiroshima Prefecture, It was mainly used as a basket for washing and storing dishes.
The maker, who is based in Kanagawa, Japan, was able to reissue the original after much trial and error based on video materials and other data from around 2012.
The name comes from the fact that the material, bamboo strips, are made in this “Sasara” way. Our fourth generation (predecessor) of this shop gave the name to this product.
The “Sasara” basket series is available in five sizes: extra-small, small, medium, large, and extra-large (almost 29cm in diameter for extra-small size to 45cm in diameter for extra-large size).

It starts out as just eight straight bamboo strips. They are 1.2cm(0.47″) to 1.5cm (0.59″) wide, depending on the size.Leaving only the center of the bamboo strips, a vertical slit is made from both ends of each strips so that there are 12 to 14 strips, depending on the size.The eight strips are then woven together, stomping with his foot while also turning himself. The rims are smooth lines like waves.No wire or rattan is used, only bamboo woven and fastened together. The “Sasara” strips catch the light and shine with gloss.This is large size.It can be used as a basket to hold a large amount of dishes or a serving basket for a large number of fruits.This is extra large size.
