This ice cream spoon is made by Satomi Nakamura, who previously worked in woodworking and now creates original pieces that blend her experience in both wood and bamboo crafts.
It comes in two tip shapes—round and square—and each is available in two lengths: short and long.It is made using white bamboo—fresh green madake that has been boiled and sun-dried to draw out its oils and lighten its natural color. Only bamboo with especially clean and glossy outer surfaces is selected, giving the final piece a beautiful luster.The idea for this product came from the thin wooden spoons often included with ice cream at candy shops or supermarkets in Japan.This version replaces the wood with bamboo, thickens the design, and creates a reusable spoon meant for repeated use. There are two tip shapes: round and square.The “round” type closely follows the shape of those nostalgic wooden spoons, translated faithfully into bamboo.The tip that goes into the mouth is polished to a smooth, glossy finish, making it comfortable and safe to use.The handle is also gently rounded, echoing the smoothness of the scoop end.
