This is a tissue box made from natural palm leaves. We introduce the “Black Natural” type.
The box consists of two parts—a lid and a base—each woven from natural palm leaves.Two colors of palm leaf are used: natural cream and black. The black strips are palm leaves dyed with chemical dye.It features a distinctive weave of repeating small triangular patterns.The lid closes by fitting over the base. By adjusting how deeply the lid is placed, you can slightly vary the height.Here is the rim of the base, where the lid meets the body.The tissue opening is lined with fabric sewn in from the inside.
When the palm leaf catches the light, it reflects a soft glow and gentle sheen —giving this piece a quiet sense of elegance.
Light and softly textured, the calm tones of natural and black allow it to blend beautifully into any interior space.

Baskets made from palm leaves have traditionally been crafted in Chettinad, a region in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
They were originally used as vessels to carry offerings or gifts during rituals, and were often given to friends and guests as a sign of invitation or agreement.
Though the craft once came close to disappearing, it has been revived through the efforts of local people and nonprofit organizations. Today, the income from these baskets provides an additional source of earnings for women working in agriculture.
