This is a serving basket made from green bamboo.
It is named for its yotsume-ami base, a weave that creates a square pattern.

Green bamboo refers to Madake bamboo freshly cut while still retaining its natural green color.
This basket is woven with strips of green bamboo whose outer skin has been shaved thin.
Shaving the skin reduces the appearance of scratches or spots on the surface, while adding luster and enhancing its beauty.
Over time, it gradually changes into a warm amber color, evenly and beautifully.

The round, wide opening makes it easy to put things in and take them out.
It is ideal for holding fruit, keeping sweets, or storing small items.

You can also place bowls or glassware upside down in it.

It is not recommended to use it as a draining basket for wet dishes.
Bamboo absorbs water, and if left damp, it may cause mold.

After washing dishes, it works well to place them here
once they have been wiped with a cloth and allowed to dry a little more.

The fresh green of a newly made basket is appealing,
but its gradual change to amber with use is also full of charm.

We hope you will enjoy these transitions, changing together with the basket.
