At the tip of the spoon, small fork-like prongs are carved, allowing it to both scoop and pick up food—a convenient piece of cutlery.
It is a long-selling item that we have carried in our shop for many years.
It is available in two colors: Natural and Red.
We are pleased to introduce this versatile piece of cutlery, suitable for both children and adults.
Compared to materials such as stainless steel, bamboo is remarkably light in weight. It also has a gentle warmth to the touch, and its strength and sturdy construction are part of the appeal of bamboo cutlery. Here, the handle is shown from above. From the end of the handle, the width gently narrows toward the tip.The handle has a softly rounded thickness and is shaped like a gently curved rectangle.Because of its rectangular shape, it does not easily roll or turn on its own when held or placed on a table. This is the bowl of the spoon, the part used for scooping. It has a generous surface area, allowing food to be gathered securely. The tip is shaped with short fork-like prongs. Thanks to this detail, side dishes can be picked up securely as well.At the same time, the tip is carefully finished so that it feels smooth and gentle, even when touched by the fingers. In the Natural finish, the characteristic grain of bamboo can be seen. In the Red finish as well, a soft matte beauty quietly unfolds. We will introduce each color in turn. This one is the Natural finish. In its appearance, it quietly expresses that it is made of bamboo. This one is the Red finish. The form is the same as the Natural version. An additional coloring process is added in its making. This vivid red, which gently stimulates the appetite, can be enjoyed regardless of gender or nationality.
As a final step, both colors are finished with a polyurethane coating that complies with the Food Sanitation Act.
This finishing process smooths the surface and helps prevent water and oil from penetrating into the bamboo, thereby enhancing the durability of the product.
At the same time, this coating makes it less likely for the color of foods to transfer to the spoon. Compared to an uncoated, truly natural piece, it can retain its original appearance for a much longer time.
However, if the surface is bitten or scratched with a sharp object, the coating may wear off more quickly. From there, water can penetrate the bamboo, which may lead to darkening or mold, so please handle it with care.
For the same reason, we do not recommend using a dishwasher, as it may accelerate wear. When washing, we suggest using a soft sponge and a mild detergent.
Although the coating will gradually wear over time with use, if handled gently, it can be enjoyed for many years.
With this single piece serving as both spoon and fork, the Bento Spoon is functional, yet gently charming.
At the office, or on a picnic. For rice and side dishes in a lunch box, for dessert, or even for enjoying a warm soup.
You might also enjoy choosing the color according to the tableware or lunch box you have, the atmosphere or season, or simply your mood and the dishes of the day.
Though born from practical purpose, it carries a certain charm, and just looking at its form can quietly lift the heart.
Please check the size and select the color that feels right to you.
— Two Generations of Cutlery Making in Oita Prefecture —
In Oita Prefecture, there is a craftsperson who has continued making cutlery since their parents’ generation.
Although they did not originally intend to take over the family craft, they chose to inherit it and reconsider cutlery making from their own perspective. Today, they continue to create a wide range of pieces, producing them day by day.
While the previous generation worked exclusively with bamboo, the current maker sought to expand the range of forms. They undertook further training in wooden cutlery making, allowing them to create items that are difficult to achieve with bamboo alone, such as ladles and spoons with generous depth, as well as plates.
With the belief that “cutlery is something for everyday use,” usability is always placed first. At the same time, the finished pieces naturally carry pleasing tones and a sense of design that delights the eye.
Through uncompromising polishing by skilled hands and a carefully applied polyurethane finish, these cutlery pieces offer a smooth, comfortable feel at the mouth and ease of care, making them suitable for users of all ages.
Among the many pieces, we believe you will find one that fits comfortably in your hand and feels just right to use.
