4. We cannot accept cancellations after payment has been made.

5. You can also order regular items together with Shimekazari pre-order items.
If you order and pay for Shimekazari pre-order items and regular items at the same time, regular items will be shipped within 3–7 business days, and Shimekazari will be delivered from late November onward.
As the items will be shipped at different times, shipping fees would normally be charged twice. However, as a special benefit for ordering pre-order items and regular items together, the shipping fee for the regular items will be free of charge.

The Shimekazari itself takes the form of awaji-musubi, 
a traditional Japanese decorative knot, made with two straw ropes.

Awaji-musubi is a traditional Japanese knot also used in mizuhiki decorative cords.
The more the two ends are pulled, the tighter the knot becomes, making it difficult to untie.
For this reason, it is considered an auspicious knot that represents strong bonds between people 
and the wish for those connections to last for many years.
It has also traditionally been used for occasions that are hoped to happen only once, 
such as weddings and celebrations of recovery from illness.

“Celebration Knot” carries these meanings, 
with the wish that misfortune will come only once and that the family will continue to live together in peace in the years ahead.

A Shimekazari is a traditional New Year’s ornament made of rice straw, displayed indoors or outdoors to welcome the Toshigami deity at the start of the year.


The Shimekazari introduced here is made locally in southern Nagano, using rice straw harvested in the area.


The makers are involved in every step, from cultivating and harvesting the rice straw to crafting each Shimekazari by hand.




The rice straw is harvested early, before the grains ripen, during the hot summer months of July and August.



This Shimekazari is made with the same high-quality rice straw used for constructing sumo wrestling rings.
The fresh green straw is carefully twisted and braided by hand.












Display it on the outside or inside of your front door as a New Year decoration.
Its dignified presence seems to quietly watch over your life in the new year, bringing a natural sense of calm.
Indoors, display it in the living room or dining room where the family gathers.
Its warm, gently widening shape seems to fill the space with a peaceful atmosphere.
You can also continue to display and enjoy it throughout the year, even after the New Year period has passed.

To keep your Shimekazari in good condition, 
please open the package promptly upon arrival and do not leave it stored inside the cardboard box.
If you are not going to display it right away, store it indoors in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
After use, it may be taken to a Shinto shrine for disposal, or treated as burnable household waste.
If disposing as waste, please be sure to follow your local municipality’s guidelines.

Its solid, grounded form has a sense of calm, and simply having it there brings a feeling of strength and reassurance, 
as if it will always watch over the home.
