This shape is inspired by a traditional stand used to hold offerings for a deity. It is used to present rice, sake, seasonal foods, and other offerings.
This Shimekazari is based on a traditional New Year decoration from Nagano Prefecture called “Oyasu,” which is made by weaving straw into a cylindrical, bowl-like shape.
The name “Oyasu” has an old connection with food and meals. Traditionally, it was used to hold rice, ozoni soup, and other foods offered to the Toshigami deity.
Although the traditional offering stand and Oyasu differ in shape and material, both are connected with the custom of offering food to a deity, expressing gratitude for the food we receive each day and the wish that these blessings will continue.
This Shimekazari is made with the wish for a rich and healthy year ahead.
The “Offering Cup” series is available in two sizes: Mini and Small.

This Shimekazari is made with the same high-quality rice straw used for constructing sumo wrestling rings. The fresh green straw is carefully twisted and braided by hand.

You can also clearly see the quality of the rice straw itself.Its slightly irregular round shape also gives it a simple, rustic charm.There may occasionally be creases or areas where the rice straw has lifted, as shown in the photo. These are not defects. Please be aware of this in advance.This is the Mini size.For the Mini size, the ends of the woven straw are braided to form a handle-like loop.
